Gzira United player Kris Thackray has pointed out that unlike the previous editions, the England national team is full of young players who are still gaining experience.

"Previously, England had the golden generation of players but never delivered and this time around, the team is younger but still full of hunger to succeed so this could be the year," Thackray said to timesofmalta.com.

Guiding the Three Lions will be Gareth Southgate, former England U-21 coach, who will be in his first experience as an international manager at senior level.

"Gareth Southgate played for England in such tournaments therefore he can teach them some things on this, while he is also a very passionate and intelligent manager so he can truly inspire this team," he said.
